Exercise, we love it, we hate it, but there is no doubting the fact that there a mountain of benefits when it is a regular feature in life. Everyone knows that exercise is good for them. They know that it will help them feel fitter, stronger and healthier. What a lot of people do not realise, is that the impact of regular exercise has a lot of unexpected and hidden benefits.
First things first, let’s clear up what the word ‘exercise’ actually means.
In its most basic definition, exercise is simply is any bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness and overall health and wellness. Exercise can be a lot of different things for a lot of different people. Some people like structured activity as their form of exercise (organised sport, competition, group classes etc). Others like unstructured activity (going for a run, swimming, walking the dog etc). Others like to have their exercise planned out (following a targeted program, weights or cardio based on their goals).
The key to all of the above is to simply make sure that you are doing SOMETHING movement based, with CONSISTENCY. You should aim to be exercising at least 4 times per week. If not you aren’t giving your body the best chance at growing and developing. Exercise with frequency and you also have the chance to live your best healthy life.
