If I improve my metabolism, will it be easier for me to lose weight? This is a key question that we WISHED we got asked with a little bit more frequency. Unfortunately (but understandably), when it comes to weight loss, most people simply talk about how much exercise they should be doing or how many calories they should be consuming.
The truth is that there are a few other key players when it comes to weight loss and metabolism is a big one. The better we have our metabolism working, the better chance we have of success.
There is a reason that bodybuilders get to eat so much every day. Their metabolism works so hard that to simply sustain the amount of muscle they have they need to consume as much as a normal adult would in 2-3 days.
The same could be said for elite athletes. For the entire Olympics Usain Bolt was known to eat upwards of 100 chicken nuggets a day. Whilst it is certainly not the healthiest of options, the fact that he could consume that much and burn it off was in large, due to his fast metabolism.
You see, the metabolism is a huge factor in any health and fitness goal.
Our ability to burn energy fast means that we have a body that is highly functioning and able to:
- Burn fat
- Transport vitamins and minerals around the body
- Circulate healthy oxygenated blood
- Process food faster.
The good news is that our metabolism is something that we can improve and work on every single day. It just takes a little bit of commitment, understanding and persistence to be able to get it working best for you.
