The habits that we have in our life will directly impact the way we live in both positive and negative ways. Wether or not we realise it, our daily life is made up of a number of conscious and subconscious habits. If those habits are bad, or negatively impacting us, then it can be quite hard to see success. Conversely, if our habits are largely good, or positively impacting us, then there is a higher chance that we will be seeing the success that we are looking for.
When it comes to health and fitness, our habits can incorporate a wide range of areas (exercise, food, drink, sleep etc). With so many factors that can impact our results, whether or not we have positive or negative habits around them is very important.
Good habits around health and fitness include
- Staying hydrated
- Nutritional balance
- Exercising consistently
- Having a sleep schedule
- Focusing on good mental health
Bad habits around health and fitness include
- Not eating enough vegetables
- Being too sedentary
- Not cooking enough of your own meals, getting too much take away
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Improper sleep patterns
If we are really looking to conquer our health and fitness goals, then we need to do the hard work to break some bad habits that might be getting in the way of our success. These habits may be subconscious. Habits that we are not even aware of. Or they may be habits that we know we need to change, but for a variety of reasons have not been able to yet. If we are able to change/alter these habits, we are much more likely to achieve long-lasting lifestyle change.
Tips to beat your bad habits
Our habits are what make us who we are. Some are positive, some are negative. Some we realise we have, others we don’t. Habits take time to create and to break, that is why they are habits. It is important to ensure that you are consciously trying to make a change to them on a daily basis.
If you are not trying to improve them each day, unfortunately the prevailing habit can tend to be the winner. If this is a bad habit, then it can be really hard to overcome.
