Alcohol and weight loss don’t really go hand in hand. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your viewpoint), alcohol and living in Australia does. Having a drink is a big part of the Aussie culture. It is something that is seen as a daily, if not weekly activity.
In-fact, 40% of Australians (14 years and older) drink on a weekly basis. That might not seem like a high frequency for some people, and it may for others. One thing is certain, the impact on the body with drinking can be devastating.
With 67% of Australians also being overweight or obese, we can see that there is a high potential for crossover between people who drink frequently and people who are overweight.
Why is this important?
Because alcohol consumption has a big impact on peoples ability to lose weight. The unfortunate thing is that alcohol will always impact your weight loss potential.
The good news is that if managed properly, it is still possible to lose weight and continue to drink.
The key lies with the ability to control your alcohol intake through moderation and the understanding of the impact that it has on the body.
The more you understand the impact of alcohol, the better the chance you have of being able to have a healthy relationship with it.

Alcohol & Weight Loss – A Summary
Unless you are someone who is able to completely abstain from alcohol, there is a good chance that drinking will be a part of your life.
That is ok.
However, if you are also looking to lose weight, or be in good physical shape, then it is important to have a strong understanding and balance with alcohol in your life.
Educating yourself, making the right decisions and consistently ensuring that your health is at the forefront will go a long way to ensuring that you can have the best of both worlds.
